“Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures NOR the power of God?”

Mark 12:18-24

18 Then some Sadducees, WHO SAY THERE IS NO RESURRECTION, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying: 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies, and leaves his wife behind, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife; and dying, he left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and he died; nor did he leave any offspring. And the third likewise. 22 So the seven had her and left no offspring. Last of all the woman died also. 23 Therefore, in the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as wife.”

24 Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures NOR the power of God?

Jesus differentiates between the scriptures and the power of God.

There are 2 elements that need to be flowing in our lives:

  1. The Word
  2. Knowledge of the power of God and the dutamis power given to us by the Holy Spirit


Alot of people say “We just need the word we don’t need prophesies or tongues”
The word says God has given us power. Christ is in us! So, if you’re really a ‘word person’ then you will embrace the Holy Ghost!!!! Even John said that the word and the spirit are in agreement with each other.

Alot of full gospel churches rebuke speaking in tongues for fear of offending someone. STOP VILLIANIZING THE HOLY GHOST. Who do we think we are to forbid the arrival of the holy ghost because of someones opinion about it? I don’t think anyone else knew what was going on at the day of Pentecost, people said they were drunk, yet 3000 people were saved that day! God didn’t ask anybody’s opinion to show up in that way !

Lack of understanding is never an excuse to rebuke God’s power in our lives

The early church was so full of signs wonders and miracles. You wont have that if you ‘shut the power off’

Revelation: Imagine the main circuit breaker for your house, if you shut that off you cut off all power flowing in your house. Yet, afterwards a lot of people try flipping on a light switch and wonder why there is no light’

Church is not supposed to be some social club with readers digest message and everyone goes home and has nothing happen in their lives. God is stirring up the church again to be word and supernatural believers!

James 1:22

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

NO COMPROMISE!!!! COMPROMISE IS A SPIRIT FROM HELL

when you compromise you COMP your PROMISE, Comp= give away. DON’T GIVE AWAY YOUR PROMISE.

Start getting the attitude of David when Michal his wife despised him after watching him rejoice the Lord and dance with ALL HIS MIGHT. He said ” your daddy didn’t make me king, as a matter of fact it was My King who made me King in  replace of your daddy, oh and by the way, I’m not doing this for you or anybody else but I do it for the Lord, Oh and another thing…Next time I’ll do it all the more!

2 samuel 6:20

 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”

21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”

23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

Arise & Shine part 2

As a result of obedience, there is always the release of blessing.

Isaiah 60:1-7

Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
3 The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.

4 “Lift up your eyes all around, and see:
They all gather together, they come to you;
Your sons shall come from afar,
And your daughters shall be nursed at your side.
5 Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy;
Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.
6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land,
The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah;
All those from Sheba shall come;
They shall bring gold and incense,
And they shall proclaim the praises of the Lord.
7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you,
The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you;
They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar,
And I will glorify the house of My glory.

God is speaking to those who are obedient. It is a promise attached to a command.  

There are 4 major blessings for obedience:

  1. Family restoration (vs4)
  2. Harvest of souls (vs 4)
  3. Financial breakthrough (vs 5-6)
  4. Church growth & expansion (vs 7)

God’s old testament intent was for his people to be the envy of the world. We need to arise and shine so that those who are lost will want what we have. Be careful to follow this scripture:

 1 corinthians 13:4-7

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

For the Third blessing, (Financial breakthrough) where He mentions the camels, remember that camels back then were transportation. And only the wealthy had them. God is pretty much saying that when you are obedient, He wants you to have a nice ride. ;) But also keep this scripture in mind”

Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Arise is an action word. Arise means its time to get up and do SOMETHING, it is a call to action.

All God’s promises are precipitated on the word “Arise”. The Holy Ghost alarm clock is going off to awaken the church that has been sleeping for too long. Regardless of what is going on in the economy or the world, you will still be blessed and will shine! Remember that the light of God is not restricted by the darkness of this world evidenced in verse 2. The Lord did not save you and fill you with his Holy Spirit so you can sit and wait to die and be with Jesus! Our purpose is to further his kingdom and glory. Look at 2 Kings 7:3-8

Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die? 4 If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die.” 5 And they rose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there. 6 For the Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses—the noise of a great army; so they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us!” 7 Therefore they arose and fled at twilight, and left the camp intact—their tents, their horses, and their donkeys—and they fled for their lives. 8 And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid them; then they came back and entered another tent, and carried some from there also, and went and hid it.

They got up and did SOMETHING instead of just sitting around accomplishing nothing but near sure death. Too many Christians are sitting around waiting to die. Its no longer time to be weekend warriors but to start being active duty soldiers in the army of God. Our purpose is not to go to church just to make a seat warm and have a great time and afterwards say wow, what a great service! But to come and be energized and ready to “go out into the highways and hedges” Quit being the tune to this song: 

"I will fly away oh glory
I will fly away
When I die Hallelujah by and by
I will fly away"

It is time to arise and shine.

Shine: means luminous; set on fire. Express what God gave you.

Matthew 5:14-16

14“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.


As Christians we have to be careful to not get complacent and JUST be happy with what we have and get fat and sassy. Let your light shine! When you are in the pitch dark and you are the only one with a flashlight, all eyes will be on the light. We don’t so much have to curse the darkness, as to just simply turn on the light.

There are 3 things that are needed to have light:

  1. Power- The Holy Spirit.

    Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

  2. Lamp- The ministry that is given to all Christians the day they got saved, which is ‘reconciliation’. To take the hand of an unbeliever and join it with the hand of God.
  3. Fixture- (That is plugged into the power) is the Local Church body.

When you have all 3, You are ready to go and you got the goods. Your light has come!  “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” (vs 1) What are you waiting for? What do you have to lose to minister to someone who is lost? Afraid to be rejected? When you operate in the Kingdom of God, being rejected by man is something you are just going to have to get used to. But Procrastination is and enemy of the Kingdom.


During the ascension of Jesus into heaven after his resurrection. The disciples sat there and stared into the sky thinking “Hes coming back soon!” But then the angels came and said “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven?” (Acts 1:11) pretty much what they meant was, GET GOING! ARISE AND GO TO JERUSALEM TO PREACH THE GOSPEL

When you take care of God’s business He will take care of your business.
